A very nice celebration of Barangay  Fiesta 2012 was demonstrated  last January 9 to 15 in Barangay Tortugas. Great effort were again given by various organizations (multi - sectoral group) making the event a successful one.

We want to thank God Almighty who continuously blesses every one of us. We would like to thank the Sto. Nino Parish Church for this year’s program for the feast of Sto Nino. We would also like to thank the Multi - Sectoral Group who generously give their time and support to help us year after year not only in the development of the village but also in providing entertainment to every member of the community. They are the

1. Bayside Rotary Village Corps for organizing fun and games last January 1, 2012. Officers and members have long been giving this unique entertainment for several decades now;

2. The Pitong Gatang for their tireless giving of financial assistance to all programs being conducted here in the village;

3. The Pulo Youth Organization through their own initiative and pleasure organized a Street Dancing Competition at their ward but which was open to everyone in the village;

4. The Fire Gays who are always there to help not only in doing their own activities but also lend their creativity in the physical arrangement if there are activities in the barangay;

5. The Girlieliciuos, although a newly organized association, is an active supporter in the activities of the Barangay. This year, it sponsored a Marathon for women ages 30 plus;

6.The KABALIKAT which works in constant partnership with the Barangay in its different activities. It continues to promote the welfare of women in the community.

And more importantly, the sponsors whose financial assistance contributed greatly to the success of the festivities.  They are as follows:

1. Gov. Tet Garcia

2. Cong. Abet Garcia

3. Mayor Joet Garcia

4. Vice Mayor Noel Valdecanas and SP members

Our deepest gratitude to you all. May God grant you with blessings untold!

From the weeklong activities, an extraordinary participation of the residents of Tortugas was noticeable. The venue was full, packed by people who joined in the celebration. The Invitational Drum and Lyre Competition which was the highlight of the festivity was very successful!  We thank the schools who participated. They are the:

1. Asinan Elem. School, Olongapo City

2. M. DeLos Reyes Elem. School, Pto. Rivas Balanga City

3. Bagumbayan Elem. School, Pilar Bataan

4. Wawa Elem. School, Pilar Bataan

Eeveryone was satisfied with the talents by each participant with respect to style and methods of playing, marching and group formation. It was evident that the judges had difficulty selecting winners because of the superb rendition each had demonstrated.

According to the comments given by three judges who were Dr. John C. Ryan Dizon, PhD Mechanical Engineering at Korea and multi instruments player, Mr. Noel Villanueva, Conservatory of Music at the University of the Philippines and currently conducting BPSU choral groups and Mrs. Glenda Batul, BSCE at Harris Memorial College and Bs Music at Phil Normal College, All were good but they must pick winners which showed exemplary performance.

The overall champion was Bagumbayan Elem School Drum and Lyre Corp with coach/ instructor Mr. Robert Yneco, 1st runner up, M. Delos Reyes Elem School Drum and lyre Corps with coach / instructor Mr. Perry Medina and 2nd runner up, Asinan Elem School Olongapo City with Coach / instructor Mr. Cesar Ramirez. M. Delos Reyes Elem School took home Best Lead Majorette and Best Group Majorette while Bagumbayan Elem School for Best Uniform.

The seven samabale group demonstrated fabulous dances for Sto Niño. Each had  back up mobile music and a  motif for the  celebration  which added pleasure to the audience and  excellence to the participants as a prize was at stake for having the most disciplined group with  most  graceful execution.

Salamat sa iyo Totugas! Thank you Kabarangays! .. tayo ay nakapag pasalamat na naman sa buong taong biyaya at sa taon pang haharapin.. mabuhay ang Kapistahan! Long live Barangay Tortugas.. mabuhay po tayong lahat!
