It seemed like a normal day on the outside of Barangay Tortugas, but in Wetland Park area, were the event started was a flurry of activity. There was a buzz in the air, people in identical face expression, and a respectable crowd.

Scratch your heads no more! It’s Tortugas barangay Fiesta! held last 16th - 17th day of January, it's a two day celebration and it started with a street dancing competition on the first day and the procession of the feast of Sto. Nino and sambale on the D day itself. It was again a chance for the youths and the olds to have a good time and express themselves and show their skills in street dancing. Surprisingly is the number of guest and visitors that came from different barangay in the city.

First up were performances by six colorful dancing groups came from different purok. They wowed everyone present with their energetic leaps, spins, and effortless grace. Next, the street was open to the group, and everyone were shouting while dancing to the sound of three mobile sound systems moving in line at a distance that poured the street with loud and joyful music. We interviewed some of the happy faces present to see what they thought of the event so far. “Our favorite part is the exhibition of each group that shows their skills in street and stunt dancing,” said one of the expectators. They added, “We  really like street dancing  because it’s fun.” Taking in their so excited appearance, we asked if they want to do this event again and they said “IYEEKS”! Of course YES.

Finally, at the end of the night, there was a lucky draw for everyone. Bounty of  lucky winners walked away with bags of groceries , but in the end, most of us left (the barangay officials) happy and satisfied, for despite of exhausting night spent with friends learning a new experience, laughing, joking, and kidding , will always leave some warmth within. And thus came the end of Barangay  Fiesta 2010, an event that satisfies everyone and again, our special thanks to Gov. Tet Garcia, Cong. Abet Garcia, Mayor Joet Garcia, the City Council headed by Vice Mayor Noel Valdecañas, to our constituents who always behind us and to all of the sponsors… THANK YOU VERY MUCH, God will surely bless you!
