Bird Census 2015

posted Sep 5, 2015, 1:23 AM by Barangay Tortugas
The DENR, Wild Bird Club of the Philippines and selected Non-Government Organizations who are conservationist advocates, yearly conducts monitoring program of the migratory birds in our Wetland and Nature Park to identify bird species and bird counts.

The said monitoring program also helps in knowing the environmental conditions of the City of Balanga. The presence of the migratory birds here is due to the conducive climate and food availability.

Despite the pollution problem, there is still hope left for our environment. We need to be vigilant in keeping the health of our marshlands and river ways and air. It is important that we look after our surroundings, so that future generations can inherit a clean environment and be able to see these migratory birds for themselves.

This year, there were approximately (12,599) twelve thousand five hundred ninety nine migratory birds spotted. Hopefully they will continue to fly here. We thank all who made this census possible. Thanks also to our BPATS and Tanods who looked after safety of our guests.
