Barangay Tortugas once again wowed the world! Many bird enthusiasts were present in the celebration of the First Ibong  Dayo Festival  this 10th day of December 2010 and officially opened the first in the whole of the Philippine Island, “The Balanga City Wetland and Nature park”. Yes! It’s in Barangay Tortugas. What a site to see! A trash free, a tree filled wetland for birds to fly above and alight in the park below.

A very big crowd assembled eager to see the transformed bay park and to see the no less than the Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency Jejomar “Jojo” Binay to honor us in the ribbon cutting! Barangay Tortugas in particular and the Balanga City, Bataan in general, are very, very delighted in the promised support and help Vice Pres. Binay has for us as part of his National Program.

To our leaders who serve, again, we salute the 3G’s : Governor  Tet Garcia, Congressman Abet Garcia and Mayor Joet Garcia for taking  Barangay Tortugas to the next level. Mayor Joet’s campaign to make Balanga a World Class City is climbing up and as recipients of endless projects and support, we like to see the residents of Barangay Tortugas giving the best effort in keeping the Wetland and Nature Park’s surrounding clean.
Through this, we will all experience God’s gift of nature’s greatest today and in the future.

Punong Barangay Vic Baluyot Jr. and his Kagawad would like to thank the people and organizations behind the success of this event. Thank you for making this tiny part of the world a part of everybody’s life
