This is one of the best programs of Mayor Jose Enrique S. Garcia. Each Barangay is encouraged to allocate a patch of land where residents can enjoy planting various vegetables, and at the same time serve as an alternative source of income.

The City Agriculture Office headed by Mrs. Nerissa Mateo is the agency that is promoting and giving helpful tips and ideas on how to successfully grow a vegetable garden. Several Barangays like Tanato, Cabog - Cabog, Central Cupang, Munting Batangas, Bagong Silang, have the advantage in this program as their location is high plus the texture or type of their soil best suited to planting. There are also springs around their area so watering of the vegetable patches won't be a problem.

Very much challenged, Barangay Tortugas which is often flooded with salty water during high tide periods, a crowded

community as it is and with very limited spaces in between houses, still welcomes this program. Interested residents embark on growing their vegetable seeds using their elevated lots, some were using pots, empty can, plastic bags and sacks filled with suitable soil and hang them on walls, like a raised vegetable garden. It is a garden anywhere! Though perceived as an income generating source, Tortugas residents enjoy their healthy produce in the daily feeding of their own family with nutritious greens, and save money.

We can truly say that there is no limit to what we can do when we positively look at the resources around us. Big Thanks to Mayor Joet Garcia and Madam Nerissa Mateo for their never ending support to all worthwhile barangay programs. More Power!
