Seminar Workshop on the Formulation of the City Climate Change Adaptation

posted Oct 14, 2014, 7:18 AM by Barangay Tortugas
This seminar was about the comprehensive City Climate Change Adaptation Plan to help each Barangay in identifying steps to be done as part of disaster preparedness.

"Climate change refers to any significant change in the measures of climate lasting for an extended period of time. In other words, climate change includes major changes in temperature, precipitation, or wind patterns, among other effects, that occur over several decades or longer. This change in Earth's climate has a dangerous effects to human health and welfare and to ecosystems."

We learned that our Barangay is likely to be affected being a coastal area. Storm surges and deep flooding are foreseen as inevitable. This is when prioritizing plans and projects come in like river control, breakwater, dikes, and a large-scale mangrove and anahaw tree planting.

These plans and projects across the city will be collated in order to arrive at a concrete preparation plan for each Barangay.
